Turtles

These are my new babies Lulu and Bella, they were a Birthday present from my friend, she bought them in China Town. Hopefully they stay alive a wee bit longer than the last two I had. These two are not lazy, they love to run around when I take them out of the tank and believe me they are not slow pokes. If I turn around they are gone in a flash, naughty wee girls!

Amaryllis

I usually buy them in A&P , sometimes there's a choice of colours, this time they only had red. Very easy to grow, you put the bulb in the pot and surround it with the soil they provide. Water it then wait for it to grow. It takes about two weeks for it to get to about 2 inches (it seems like forever). But after that it seems like it grows every night, you can see the changes. One day you see the red bud pop out, the next night it pops out even more and within a couple of days it is in full bloom and it is beautiful. I love them and would love to have a window sill full of them.

Mince And Tatties

Mmmmm shepards pie, I love it, one of my favourites and very easy to make. I just brown some onions, toss in the meat (ground beef) and brown it all together, I add a little water and let it simmer a while. I add some gravy, from a packet I'm afraid, the lazy way, let all that simmer again for a while. I then add some carrots, peas, worchester sauce, a bit of ketchup and simmer again. While it is cooking I boil some potatoes, mash them with a wee bit of butter, or a lot, whatever floats your boat. I put the meat mixture in an oven proof dish then top with the mashed potatoes, put in the oven to cook more and Bobs your uncle, yummy dinner. In Scotland we call it mince and tatties.

Arts And Crafts Day

This was Arts/Crafts day with the children I take care of. We made pies out of playdough, all kinds, blueberry, apple and even some bread and rolls etc. When we were done we pretended we had a little bakery, two of the children owned the bakery while me and the other child shopped for pies and bread. They were very cheap to buy, haha, it was a lot of fun!

Logan and I did some drawings, I of course drew my favourite, Sponge Bob. Logan drew a Mario brother on a Yoshi from a Wii game "The Mario Brothers", the Yoshi is a kind of horse. So in all we had a very productive day.

Fluffy Bunnies Finito

With my angora/merino blend yarn that came from Maine I made a scarf by crocheting a single stitch then a scalloped edge.

Delicious And Delightful Done

Even though this project was meant to be a "Cap-Puccino" I'm a beginner knitter and was not yet ready to follow a pattern for hats. So a basic knit stitch for this yarn until it ran out. I have since learned a few other stitches but still staying in the safety of scarves.

Chunky Monkey Complete

I turned last years Birthday present into a hat and scarf set. I made them using Sam's knifty knitter loom that comes in a set of four different sizes. With close guidance from Sam (also modeling the hats and scarf) I quickly finished the brown hat, it went so well I made the white hat with plenty of wool left over to make a matching scarf.

Fat Cat Nap

This is more than just a plump cat soaking in the sun. This is about the fact that it got mild enough today to melt some of our many layers of snow. It felt wonderful to walk on the beach without a woolly hat and scarf. Even though we have a couple of snow falls coming this week today's respite from ice and windchills was much needed and Skitty took advantage of a soothing sunshine nap.

Beach Pups

This guy (Great Dane?) was very sweet and stopped to pose for me...picking his best side.

This guy was full of beans, a pink balloon sitting on the sand caught his full attention.

It also scared him away!

The Very Calm Before The Storm

A waveless ocean. I live close enough to the water to hear it's ever changing moods, whether a constant roar from a wild storm, earth shaking booms from a steep shore, to clean rhythmic lapping on a windless day. But rarely is it so calm there are no waves...all is quiet.

Winter Birds And Rats

The photo is a little blurry but the birds move so quickly! This was taken last year before the snow. The bird feeder is always full, kept well stocked by Sam. We all enjoy watching the beautiful birds that come to feed...even the squirrels who I find cute while certain others have been calling them "...it's really just a rat closeup!"

Wetsuit Surfing

Studying best plan of entry.

Here we go.

Riding the waves.

Hanging out with a few friends until the right wave comes along.
