Rose Ann's Blanket

This beautiful blanket was made for me by Christine between the months of December and March. It is so beautiful! She was so unwell but was happy to use up her precious energy making something that would please me and make me happy. I believe it to be a farewell gift that i will treasure forever.

Rose Ann's Blanket

This blanket is my first foray into the exciting world of crochet. I made it over a seven week period whilst in America visiting Christine. Betty encouraged me to do it by finding an easy pattern I could follow. I made it for Rachel and I'm glad to say she loves it! Rose Ann.

     These Christmas balls are made out of coloured card and are very easy to make.  By Betty

Santa's Sleigh

     I made this sleigh from a cardboard box and magazines, then decorated it, the skis are newspapers.  I made the seat with a cushion for Santa to sit on.  I also made the Santa sack and put a couple of presents in.  Then I bought two reindeer to finish it off.  I also made the tree, the stem is magazines with pipe cleaners wrapped round it and the branches are pipe cleaners with snow on them.  Then I put some lights on.

Magazine Basket

     I made this basket out of magazines and glue.  Put some bobbles and lights in it and it is lovely when it is lit.  You can also use it as a fruit basket.  By Betty

Betty's Bag (The Ladies Circle)

     At last I have finished my knitting bag.  I had a lot of wool left from my blanket so I thought I would use it for my bag.  I love this pattern, I used to make little hats for my girls in this pattern when they were tiny, they looked so cute in them. I hope you like it.

     So, here is my latest project, a bag.  For some reason it took me a while to make, I was procrastinating when I had to put the lining in, I thought it was going to be a difficult job so I kept putting it off.  Then a couple of days ago I knew I had to get on with it, so once I started sewing the inside into the bag it was a lot easier than I imagined and I did it very quickly, I wasted a lot of time for nothing.  But now it's done and I'm very pleased with it.  I used two wools together and when knitted up it became very thick, it feels nice and I used ivory handles, in all it doesn't look too bad.

     There were so many beautiful and intriguing photos of bags on the internet, but unfortunately they were either too difficult to do or didn't come with a pattern.  So I decided to make a simple little clutch and use an interesting trim to bring it to life.  I have wanted to do the crocodile stitch for a long time but did not have the patience to learn.  Using a Youtube tutorial video (rewinding and pausing a hundred times) I finally understood the stitch and in the end found it a joy to crochet.  I sewed craft felt to the inside of the clutch so things would not get snagged on the yarn and attached a magnetic clasp for added protection.  I lastly placed a ribbon bow on the front for an extra touch of girlyness.

     Here are my little hedgehogs.  I enjoyed doing them, if I had time I would have done more.  Did you notice the B and B on the bibs?  Wait for it...they stand for Betty and Billy.

     The project for the Ladies Circle was to knit or crochet a stuffed toy, so I chose these adorable hedgehogs.  At first I was going to knit my old faithful, A Teddy Bear, but then I looked at some patterns and came across the hedgehog and instantly knew I wanted to do them.  They were extremely easy to knit and took very little time, that was why I knitted a few of them and in different colours.  They already have a home to go to, the children I take care of and one or two of their friends wanted one, so bye bye hedgehogs, it was fun making you.

Amy's Stuffed Toy (The Ladies Circle)

     Here is a little toy snake I knitted myself, I am very proud of it as I am only 11 years old and it is the first toy I ever made.  It started off as a scarf and my Grandma said it could be turned into a snake.  She told me what to do and here is the result.  I hope you all like it.

Suzy's Stuffed Toy (The Ladies Circle)

     When I found out our new project was to be a soft toy, the first thing that popped into my mind was a plump little piggy.  As you can see plump little piggy became Sheena the sheep.  I used a video tutorial on how to make a mouse, changing a few things to make it more sheep appropriate.  Despite having to unravel many times I really enjoyed creating Sheena.
