Santa's Sleigh

I made this sleigh from a cardboard box and magazines, then decorated it, the skis are newspapers.  I made the seat with a cushion for Santa to sit on.  I also made the Santa sack and put a couple of presents in.  Then I bought two reindeer to finish it off.  I also made the tree, the stem is magazines with pipe cleaners wrapped round it and the branches are pipe cleaners with snow on them.  Then I put some lights on.

Magazine Basket

I made this basket out of magazines and glue.  Put some bobbles and lights in it and it is lovely when it is lit.  You can also use it as a fruit basket.  By Betty

Ice Plant

This is my ice plant.  I saw something similar in a magazine and thought it looked lovely so I decided to make my own.  I used a pretty tough wire but bendable and some glass beads and one pot.  I would bend some of the wire about 2 inches from the bottom and pop a bead on then about another 2 inches I'd bend the wire again and pop a bead on and so forth all the way up to as tall as you would like, and as many as you would like.  In the pot you would put a piece of oasis foam in the bottom and that is where you would stick all your branches with beads into, then pour the rest of your beads on top of the foam, when I got to that point I had many beads roll onto the floor and beads in places I didn't know until I stood on them, ouch.  I may make another one soon.

Arts And Crafts Day

This was Arts/Crafts day with the children I take care of. We made pies out of playdough, all kinds, blueberry, apple and even some bread and rolls etc. When we were done we pretended we had a little bakery, two of the children owned the bakery while me and the other child shopped for pies and bread. They were very cheap to buy, haha, it was a lot of fun!

Logan and I did some drawings, I of course drew my favourite, Sponge Bob. Logan drew a Mario brother on a Yoshi from a Wii game "The Mario Brothers", the Yoshi is a kind of horse. So in all we had a very productive day.

Painting By Numbers And Letters

Lots of fun memories came back to me while working on this "Paint By Numbers" project, a Christmas present from Sam. New and improved this kit uses acrylic paint (quick drying) and a far better paint brush. You not only search for little numbers to paint but letters which mean you combine colors to make a new one. I didn't want it to end but I was assured there are other holidays coming up!

Decorating With Decoupage

These decorated eggs were very easy to make. Decoupage was very popular in the 1990's on the television craft shows...and I joined the craze by buying a giant jar of decoupage glue. That one jar was used in a wide variety of projects and lasted forever! I love crafts that involve using things you already might have...like ribbon and tissue paper from the gift wrap box. I emptied the eggs by making two holes (top and bottom of egg) and blowing out the contents. I brushed on a layer of glue, placed small torn pieces of tissue paper onto the egg, overlapping them and patting down with the gluey brush, then brushing more glue on top, while the glue was still wet I sprinkled it with some glitter. The ribbon was held in place with more glue.

Betty's Masks

These are masks I made with my residents. I made all kinds of shapes from silver card and we decorated them. Young and old will love making these. Betty.

Betty's Mobile

This mobile is made from coloured card. Just cut out 2 circles, 8 large leaves and 8 small leaves put them all together and decorate the center. I stapled three together and hung two from cord. So easy to make. Betty.

Easter Tree

This is an Easter tree that the residents made with the help of the staff. Polystyrene balls, lots of little things to stick on or glitter, ribbon at the top to hang on the tree. Betty.

Betty's Daisies

These are so easy to make.
Two round circles, sixteen strips of card. Fold strips in half , glue the strips around one circle, then glue the other circle on top. Decorate center or put eyes and a smiley face.
Fun to do. Betty.
